General Questions
What areas do you serve?
We proudly provide our concrete and excavation services to residential and commercial clients in Cambridge, Ontario, and the surrounding areas.
Do you provide free estimates?
Yes, we offer free, no-obligation quotes. We will visit your property, understand your project requirements, and provide a clear and honest price.
Are you fully insured?
Absolutely. We carry full insurance to protect your property, your project, and our team while we are on the job.
Grading & Excavation
Why is site grading so important before pouring concrete?
Proper grading is the most critical step. It ensures water flows away from your home’s foundation, preventing flooding and keeping your new concrete from sinking or cracking over time.
Do you handle the dirt removal after excavation?
Yes, our excavation service is complete. We haul away the old concrete, soil, and debris so your property is left clean and ready for the next step.
How deep do you excavate for a new driveway?
Typically, we dig down 9 to 12 inches. This gives us enough room to lay a solid, compacted gravel base before the final concrete pour.
Concrete Services & Finishes
What is the difference between stamped concrete and broom finish?
Broom finish is a classic, slip-resistant surface that is highly practical for standard driveways and sidewalks. Stamped concrete is pressed with custom patterns to mimic the look of high-end stone, brick, or wood.
Is exposed aggregate durable for Canadian winters?
Yes, it is extremely durable. The textured surface hides wear and tear perfectly. With proper installation and occasional sealing, it handles freezing and thawing cycles very well.
How often should I seal my stamped or exposed concrete?
To protect the color and prevent moisture damage, we recommend sealing decorative concrete surfaces every 2 to 3 years.
How long does it take for new concrete to dry?
You can usually walk on your new concrete after 24 to 48 hours. However, you should wait at least 7 days before driving a standard vehicle on a new driveway.
Can you pour concrete in cold weather?
Yes, but it requires special care. We use specific mixes and curing methods if temperatures drop to ensure the concrete sets properly and maintains its full strength.
Process & Expectations
How long does a standard driveway project take?
Most residential driveways take about 3 to 5 days from the initial excavation to the final pour, depending on the weather conditions.
Do I need to be home during the project?
No, you do not need to be home while we work. As long as we have clear access to the site and an outdoor water supply, we can handle everything.
Will my lawn or yard be damaged during the work?
We take strict precautions to protect your property. While heavy machinery is necessary for excavation, we keep our footprint as small as possible and clean up thoroughly at the end of the job.
What happens if it rains on the day of the pour?
We monitor the weather very closely. If heavy rain is expected, we will proactively reschedule the pour to ensure the finish and structural integrity of your concrete are not compromised.
